Intervista con Split Image - In Inglese

Answered by Josh Escobar

1.Since you are at your first interview on this site, why don't you tell our readers when and how you started your journey in the underground world?

Well for Split Image we started in 2019. Some of us were in a previous band and things were ending but instead of trying to revive that band for a 3rd lineup instead we decided to start something new. That became Split Image. Our first show was in late 2019 when several shows played in 2020 but with the pandemic we chose to record material instead of playing shows. Than a music video. Since 2021 we've released two music videos, released a 6 song E.P. called Torrent of Illusion and dropped several singles since then. We've also toured since then.

2. What genres and bands is the group influenced by?

We are a blend of Hardcore Crossover with Punk roots. As for music tastes we like different music. Joey's favorite band is Weezer. One of Chris's favorite bands is Raw Power and one of Josh's favorite bands is Pantera. I'd say our tastes are a mixed bag.

3. I know it might not be easy to do, but could you comment on your latest work?

Our latest release is called Demon Hunter it is a heavy handed banger with lyrics centered on One facing and conquering their Demons head on in a literal and esoteric & spiritual sense. We have more music releases planned.

4.The underground metal scene is undoubtedly inflated by many groups, so (often) it is necessary to present compositions that stand out in the chaos of the various musical scenes. Do you think your songs have something more to say or different from what has already been said in the crowded metal world?

In terms of sound we believe our lyrical content is centered more on topics that aren't exactly covered. For example songs like Prey on my downfall Demon Hunter are focused on two topics. Prey is centered on One finding their strength and resolve to persevere through their pursuits without the judgement of others to weigh them down almost like a righteous cause. Demon Hunter is centered on One who chooses to face themselves in effort to move past anything from the self that has been holding them back, the flip side of this is them also facing their literal demons and conquering them. I don't really see these themes covered in music or underground metal often. Most of our music are either centered on Developmental struggles to truths that aren't exactly shared or covered often and other things like religious and spiritual topics etc. We work on these topics and cover them in our music.

5.What do you think of the national underground scene?

I believe the underground scene is great and will always be there. Thanks to the underground scene we've met many cool bands on tour and one of our friends bands housed us during our tour! I believe it's much larger than one would think!

6. The career of a musical group (however short it may be) is always studded with more or less positive events. What would you like to erase and what will you always remember from your group experience, from the very beginning until now?

7. How do you judge the Internet vehicle for promoting the music scene?

The internet is useful for gaining traction with bands and sharing music. You must learn the algorithm to bring attention to yourself but word of mouth works just as great on social media!

8.Since we are talking about it .... how many original CDs do you buy each month? And how many do you listen to?

We don't usually buy CD's if anything we buy local bands music either on a CD or tapes. As for listening we do a lot more of that haha.

9.What does your group want to do when they grow up?

The same as we are right now! Constantly playing shows and having fun! It's what it's all about while also tickling the itch of traveling and tour. And also improving along the way.

10.Okay, guys! The space at our disposal is about to run out, but I want to give you carte blanche for the last message. The word is yours, you are free to express yourselves!

We appreciate you having us here to speak with you! Split Image is a blend of Hardcore Crossover and Punk. We hope you enjoy our music and performances! Please check us out when on tour. Our Instagram is Split Image CA! Thank you for having us on! 😎
