Interview with Otherwise Dead

1.Since you are at your first interview on this site, why don't you tell our readers when and how you started your journey in the underground world? Otherwise Dead formed in 2018. As more serious musicians, Taylor and Matthew started jamming together in at Texas Jam Rehearsal in Plano, Tx. By feb 2020, they completed their lineup with Taylor, Matthew, Adam, Tyler, and Maxton only to be delayed by covid and forcing adam to leave. After moving Tyler to guitar, we needed to fill the bass void he left so we found Jeremy. Being on this journey while at Texas Jam has been key to our foundations as we hsve met many great bands and had alot of great people guide us. 2. What genres and bands is the group influenced by? We are everywhere. Our drummer likes pop music, our guitarists are into heavy metal and melodic metal, our bass player is a human jukebox of music knowledge, our vocalists is always listening to something different. Biggest influences for our upcoming ep are prob drowning pool, lamb of god, metallica, black dahlia murder. 3. I know it might not be easy to do, but could you comment on your latest work? Its high energy! We wanted something that can introduce people into the world of Otherwise Dead with harmonic and aggressive feelings. 4.The underground metal scene is undoubtedly inflated by many groups, so (often) it is necessary to present compositions that stand out in the chaos of the various musical scenes. Do you think your songs have something more to say or different from what has already been said in the crowded metal world? We feel our music speaks for itself. We believe in showing not talking. 5.What do you think of the national underground scene? We wish it was pushing more artist. Seems its difficult to get past certain gatekeepers.

6. The career of a musical group (however short it may be) is always studded with more or less positive events. What would you like to erase and what will you always remember from your group experience, from the very beginning until now? We will always remember getting through the otherside of covid, still intact for the most part. We survived what many bands did not. 7. How do you judge the Internet vehicle for promoting the music scene? It is what it is. At this point, it helps get music in front of new fans that wouldn't know otherwise. 8.Since we are talking about it .... how many original CDs do you buy each month? And how many do you listen to? None, i dont think any of us have purchased a cd in 10 years 9.What does your group want to do when they grow up? Well since we're in our 20s and early 30s we just want to be the best people we can be. 10.Okay, guys! The space at our disposal is about to run out, but I want to give you carte blanche for the last message. The word is yours, you are free to express yourselves! Listen to our new single Falling Forever and join the Otherwise Dead journey. Its going to be alot of fun
